I photograph what people don't pose for.
A glance that slips past the lens before it has time to arrange itself. A hand caught mid-thought. The quiet between two people who've stopped performing for each other.
I'm drawn to solitude in a crowd, to light that lands somewhere it wasn't supposed to, to the second right before or right after something happens, when nobody's decided yet how to feel about it.
A photograph doesn't have to explain someone.
It just has to catch what was already there, and let the rest stay theirs.
